Often, I have heard the question” Did you always know you wanted to be a therapist?” Or, “have you always known what you wanted to do with your social work degree?” When I entered my social work program during undergrad, I knew that the “typical” idea of social work would not be the best fit for me. I love to experience a great quality of life. I do not like to be very stressed and burdened. And, I love my freedom. And to be the best for the people I serve, it is important to meet these components. Self-care, boundaries, and expectations are cornerstone components. Not only for my style of clinical supervision but my life as a clinical social worker.
